If you noticed my post about my 10 major goals for 2010 included a lot of downsizing: my weight, my debt, my bills, and my possessions. Most of this I had planned for last year, but many things slowed me down (including the downsized economy that had my pay downsized).
Thankfully, downsizing isn’t always a negative. One great example of this is my measurements. My last update on Dec 6th (3.5 weeks after starting preop) had me down 6 inches.
Now almost 7.5 weeks into this journey (and six weeks after surgery) my numbers have changed dramatically. I have been told my family that I look much better (and much healthier), but I never believed that the numbers had changed so much over the last 4 weeks. I have lost 21 inches!!! Wooohooo!!
The best part is that most of the inches lost have been in my hips, waist, and chest. I have lost most of my “middle” weight which is much healthier. I am now starting to get the body shape that I am used to having (somewhere between a hourglass and a pear depending on weight). People normally think I weigh less than I do (including doctors) because my weight was dispersed well.
Once I started to gain the last 30lbs that changed. I looked my weight – and felt it too. I had a puffy look that I just couldn’t stand. Now I look and feel so much healthier. Yes I am still obese and I still look it, but I look and feel so much different – 21 inches different!! Yeahhhh!!!!

Great NSV! We must be built the same way. I too carried my weight well. But the last 30-40 pounds really started showing!
ReplyDeleteMy Doctor told me that I was a classic Apple shape, meaning that I am proportioned well, but the last major weight gain, went to the belly area!!
So we can look forward to losing our Apple shape this year together!!
Whooo .. how exciting is all this? I too was an apple shape but thankfully after 60 + pounds of weight gone - I'm starting to look just normal... back to my hourglass shape (though I need a bigger dent in the middle aka my waist - it seems to have disappeared after four kids! lol)
ReplyDeleteoooo I love the program you are using to track your measurments! Is it something you found or your dr. provided you with??
ReplyDeleteKristen - It is the realize.com website. You get to use it free if you have a realize band. My surgeon typically uses this band unless you ask specifically for another brand since he really likes the website. I have to say I agree.
ReplyDeleteoooo ok! I have heard great things about the realize website but never knew the details of it. I have the lapband, and must say I don't care for their website all too much! Thanks for getting back to me!
ReplyDeleteTJ,
ReplyDeleteYeah!!! is right. Congratulations on your stats. You'll "be a 10" this year!
