Finally!

I am finally back down to my pre-surgery weight (minus 1lb)!! I am so happy!!! It has been kinda discouraging this week to see my weight so much higher than before the surgery (6.8lbs at my checkup 4 days post surgery - especially since I haven't been able to eat much (averaging 800 calories). I know that most of it was water weight from the surgery, but several people who had the surgery near mine had lost as much as I had gained. It is so strange how different everyone is!

I haven't been on much (and have tons of blogs to catch up on!). I went up to my parents for Thanksgiving (even though we decided not to celebrate this year) and my parents drove me back home for the weekend so we could go to the Detroit Piston's game today. It was a blast! We had great seats - 1 row up from the floor right next to the players' entrance. The only bad part was all the stairs. OMG! I am still in pain and had to take some pain meds again (so much for driving today). The worst part is the incision where the port is. It actually felt like it was pulling, but I got my exercise in :)
I hope everyone else had a great holiday and hopefully I will catch up with everyone's blogs by tomorrow.

  1. I didn't gain weight after my surgery, but didn't lose anything for the longest time. I felt bad seeing some people who were banded around the same time losing double digits the first week, but I got over it. I may not be losing fast, but it's coming off!

  3. Robyn - I am glad you are losing weight and not adding, but it sure can feel funny when you see people losing so much faster than you are. But I am trying not to put to much store in that since I know everyone is different.

Linda O - Yes, I live in the Detroit area - Waterford actually.

  4. Be careful with that exercise so early on. When you feel pulling on your port area stop! You still have stitches holding your port in place. Eventually scar tissue will build up but right now it is a few small pieces of thread holding your port onto you muscle. If you pull those your port will be very difficult or impossible to fill and more surgery required to fix it.

I pulled mine about a month after I had surgery and had to have my port reattached in May.

As far as the rest goes..congrats you are on your way and the weight will come off. Heal first :) drop pounds later!!
